22/17 Exclusions of Press and Public

There were no items on the Agenda that required exclusion

23/17 Declarations of Interest

Cllr Faulkner declared an interest in item no 32/17.3

24/17 Minutes of Meeting held on 8th May 2017

The minutes of the meeting held on 8th May 2017 were approved and signed by the Chairman

25/17 Police Liaison Report

A report had been received and circulated to all Councillors prior to the meeting. The report was accepted.

26/17 Progress Reports

26/17.1 Toilet Maintenance

The Chair reported that the plumber had now completed the works and had replaced a basin and taps and had sorted out the leaks.

11/17.2 Flooding

Cllr Kenworthy reported that this was not progressing as still awaiting permissions. Information had been received that a company from Maryport would take out the gravel for free provided that the necessary permissions had been granted. Cllr Kenworthy to investigate.

30/17 Financial Records

30/17.1 The following payments were approved:

Captain Shaws Room rental £ 15.00
SH Pennellum Toilet Cleaning May 17 £ 67.50

It was noted that the mowing machine was now ready for use.

30/17.4 To consider the Budget Comparison Report as at 31 May 2017 and determine action needed to address deviations from the budget.

30/17.5 VAT Return

The Clerk reported that the VAT return for 2016/17 accounting year had been submitted for a total of £2138.49.

30/17.6 Bank signatories

It was agreed that the bank signatories would be Cllrs Faulkner, Kenworthy, Woodhouse and Capstick. Cllr Faulkner to obtain the necessary forms.

31/17 Village Matters

31/17.1 Councillor vacancies

It was agreed to re-advertise the vacancies

32/17 Reports from representatives on outside bodies and working groups

32/17.1 Beach

Cllr Kenworthy reported that he would be again speaking to Cty Cllr K Hitchen re this. There was still the dispute between Cumbria CC and Copeland BC as to whose responsibility it was.

32/17.2 Wellbank

No more information was available. It was understood that there would be a relaunch to co-incide with the Channel 4 programme which was a portfolio of the village. There was a plan to put in the infrastructure on the next 12 months. Cllr Capstick to produce a list of all the community groups within the Parish.

It was thought that the TV programme may centre around Trudy Harrison MP

32/17.3 Swimming Pool

Cllr Faulkner reported that the architect was planning a site visit on 14 June 2017 prior to the submission of plans.

32/17.4 Wellbank Footpath

No action – awaiting response from Cumbria CC

32/17.5 Community Planning

In abeyance.

33/17 Correspondence

All correspondence has been previously circulated. The following had been received:

  • Correspondence re Red Ensign Day, it was decided not to participate
  • Notice of a meeting of the Patient Participation Group on 13 June 2017 it was agreed that Cllrs Faulkner and George would attend
  • Letter from NWCC re postponement of project
  • Letter from Land Registry informing that they would be undertaking a site visit of the fell fields

34/17 Councillor Matters

  • It was proposed that there be no August meeting
  • It was requested that the specification for the Christmas Lights be placed on the July Agenda
  • It was requested that the land lease for the Fell Fields be discussed at the next agenda
  • Cllr Read reported that Alexander House was seeking permission to advertise vacant rooms on the bridge railings. The Parish council cannot endorse this as the railings are the responsibility of Cumbria County Council and it was recommended they contacted them.
  • Cllr Faulkner reported that the stubble lamp post had still not been removed. He is to contact Copeland BC
  • Cllr Faulkner reported that he had received the money order form for the phone box defibs and was to complete them.
  • It was reported that the Bootle in Bloom judging would take place in July

35/17 Next Meeting

The next meeting to be held at Captain Shaw’s School, Bootle on 10 July 2017 at 7.30pm

There being no other business the Meeting closed at 8.50pm
